At the young age of 17, Peter Eckrich left his German homeland and headed to the United States in search of prosperity. By 1894, he opened his first meat market in Fort Wayne, Indiana and soon was well on his way to creating a business that would become his legacy. During the next two decades, Peter Eckrich opened a processed meat plant to fuel the growing wholesale business as well as a second meat market. By 1932, Peter Eckrich had grown the small Eckrich meat market in Indiana into a nationally recognized brand known for its great taste and supreme quality.
